Barcelona Cathedral
The Gothic cathedral was built on 1st of May 1298, on an earlier Romanic temple. In the late nineteenth century was built the main part of the cathedral and the dome, 90 meters heigh, was raised on 1913.
The cathedral was built in the thirteenth to fifteenth in the same place where there was a Romanic cathedral. The cathedral is dedicated to the Holy Cross, his main avocation, and Santa Eulalia, patron saint of Barcelona, a young virgin who, according to Christian tradition, suffered martyrdom during Roman times. The dedication of the temple in Holy Cross, very rare, is one of the oldest in the Christian world and probably dates back to the mid-seventh century. Dedication to Santa Eulalia has been known since 877, when Frodoí the bishop located the remains of the young saint Eulalia and solemnly moved to the cathedral.
